Born and raised in the Hawkesbury Region, I was brought up in a large family.
I was the youngest of eight kids and I had two hard working parents that done the best they could in raising us.
At 3 months old I fell from a top bunk bed and landed on the wooden floor and from that I ended up with Epilepsy.
It was horrible and I had no control over the seizures and was heavily drugged because of it.
At the age of 13 I decided to stop taking the drugs. I hated taking them.
As soon as ide take the drugs, I was out to it. And because of that my parents never allowed me to stay over at my friend’s places or even going to school disco’s due to the flashing lights.
My life started the moment I stopped taking the medicine and that’s when my weirdness began.
As I grew up, I didn’t see many of dad’s family, they were from France and migrated to Canada. So, I grew up mostly seeing my mum’s family. My mum’s Ancestors on her mother’s side were from the Dharug Tribe. A proud bunch of people and hard workers that had a rich history in the Hawkesbury and surrounds. We had many family reunions over the years always getting together for a Bar-B-Q and meet up.
Here, I will explain my life and how I went from a withdrawn kid that saw snakes in her bed most nights and felt protected by them to having dreams
and nightmares about other people that eventually came true.
By this time, I had no Koori Ancestors to reach out to for help, with age they had passed on but were with me every night when I went to bed, in Spirit.
I struggled with this all my life until I had a monumental life changing
experience in 2020.
Today, four years later, through their guidance, I have learnt how to embrace
this connection and receive their messages, initiations and knowledge. The
title “Energy on Planet Earth” is what my Spirit Team wanted
I remember saying, “Why that”? and they kept telling me that “This is the name
that’s needed. We need you to be our voice and that you need to tell the story,
your story”.
So, here it will be, in future posts, you will see my journey, my story,
that brought me back to self, that brought me back to Country.
I’m Leigh, my “Mudya” – White fella name and Sri Yummimps – Tumaluma, My “Spirit” and “Tribal names.
Tumaluma was given to me by my Tribal Elder – “Old One”, and I am from the
Dharug Tribe Western Sydney.
